Rapid Trigger Keyboard : Swift and Seamless Keystrokes

A rapid trigger keyboard is designed to improve the speed, responsiveness and precision of professional gamers. Unlike regular mechanical keyboards, the new technology allows you to repeat keystrokes more rapidly by removing the inherent speed limit at which the switches can be pressed. It’s a certified game-changer for players of FPS games like CS: GO, Apex Legends and Valorant that require fast repeating movements.

To do so, CORSAIR developed a special variant of their MGX magnetic switches that can register exactly how far down each key has been pressed by measuring the distance between each switch’s hall effect sensor and the PCB underneath. That information is then used to determine how much force needs to be applied in order to register a key press, and it can also be split into the separate measurements of Press and Release Sensitivity. This can be adjusted to a maximum of 40 settings, which allows you to tailor WASD keys for hyper-fast movements or ability keys for precise actions.

This unique capability allows for a new input dimension that does not have any disadvantages or trade-offs over regular digital input. Instead of only registering whether or not a key is pressed, it’s now capable of detecting how far down you’re pressing each key, and can be customized to be as sensitive as 0.1mm.

The only drawback is that the new technology only works with a very specific kind of switch, which means it will only work on CORSAIR’s own K70 MAX and the upcoming K70 LUX and K70 SILK models. If you’re not a fan of the Corsair ecosystem, then you’ll have to look elsewhere for a quick and affordable alternative that supports Rapid Trigger. The best rapid trigger keyboard might just be around the corner.

The best way to enable this feature is by simply updating the keyboard’s firmware. To do so, download the latest version of iCUE from the CORSAIR website and follow the instructions. Once you’ve done that, you can head over to the actuation settings and enable Rapid Trigger. From there, each time the key travels upwards, it will reset its actuation point and start counting as a keystroke – even before it reaches the fixed reset point that would otherwise register it. The result is a significant increase in keystrokes per second, which will undoubtedly give you a competitive edge in games like Valorant, CS: GO and Apex Legends. The best part is that you can enable and adjust Rapid Trigger without ever leaving the game. To exit the mode, just press the Fn + Win Lock key.
